Free Heap is an independent Oseram freehold in Horizon Zero Dawn located in the northeast part of the Carja Sundom, close to the border it used to share with the Sacred Lands.
History[]
Pre-Establishment[]
Long ago, the area that would become Free Heap was an Oseram camp set up near a large pile of Old World scrap, packed so tight that it all fused together, believed by Petra to have been either a stockpile or a rubbish heap.[1]
Establishment[]

The old Oseram camp was found by Petra and her companions shortly after the end of the Red Raids.[2] The nearby scrap is invaluable to them, using it for supplying their weapons with Petra using her Oseram Cannons to bolster their defense of the scrapyard.
Free Heap exists independently of the greater Oseram territory of the Claim, made up of inhabitants that refuse to adhere to Oseram tribal laws or taxes.
Sometime between Horizon Zero Dawn and Horizon Forbidden West[]
After the Liberation of Meridian, Petra returned to Free Heap. However, as it was running smoothly and didn't need her, she left to make her way to Chainscrape in order to help with the reconstruction of Barren Light.[3]
