Diviners are a station within the Quen tribe, serving as the tribe's scholars and historians.

Overview

The Diviners serve as one of the cornerstones of Quen culture, being responsible for the discovery and management of the Legacy. The Diviners are headed by the "Board of Overseers", who dictate what data is permissible or Forbidden. Diviners are not allowed to share uncovered information, not even between family members, unless the data is permitted. Quen Relic Hunters work under Diviners.

Diviners are the only Quen entrusted with the tribe's limited supply of Focuses, also known by the tribe as "the eye that reveals the Legacy". These Focuses appear to consist entirely of earlier models that were obsolete by the mid-2050s, and are handed down from Diviner to Diviner. Stealing a Focus is considered a capital crime.

To become a Diviner, one must complete training as well as an entrance exam in the Research Academy. Notably, Alva's peasant upbringing did not prevent her from becoming a Diviner, showing that even low class Quen can become Diviners.

While only the Board of Overseers know for certain, Alva estimates that Diviners number a few dozen in total.
