- "I'm just a traveler, with a bow, a concern about the state of these lands and a missing partner."
- ―Nil
Cause for Concern - Farewell is a side quest in Horizon Zero Dawn.
Synopsis[]
Obtaining the quest[]
While exploring the Sacred Lands for the first time, Aloy will encounter Nil, a Carja outlander, kneeling near a few dead bandits. If she speaks to him, he will give her the quest. Once he gives the quest, Nil will continue to spawn throughout the Sacred Lands in various locations along the main path - always surrounded by three dead bandits - until Aloy meets him outside of the bandit camp.
Cause for Concern - Farewell[]
After clearing out all six Bandit Camps, Nil invites Aloy to join him on the mesa south of Meridian, overlooking the Spearshafts for their final farewell.
Upon climbing up to the mesa, a number of bandit corpses can be seen lying around the camp. Here, Nil challenges Aloy to a duel to the death.
Should Aloy choose to accept his duel, she defeats and kills him in battle.
Should Aloy decline, she bids farewell to a disappointed Nil.
Objectives[]
- Talk to Nil
- Accept or Decline Nil's offer to battle. (Accept means killing Nil.)
- Talk to Nil
Walkthrough[]
Trivia[]
- Deciding to kill Nil does not affect the secret trophy "All allies joined"; you can still obtain it without him.
- If Aloy chooses not to kill Nil, then he will join Meridian's defenses during The Looming Shadow and The Face of Extinction.
- Nil's dialogue will change if Aloy has not spoken to him at all before starting this quest, in which case he expresses a desire to meet her because she cleared out the bandit camps, and she will express confusion as she has never met him.
