When Nao happens to run into his old classmate Siren during a bus ride, he has a bad intuition. This intuition proofs correctly, when suddenly, all the lights in the bus start flickering and everyone else disappears. Confused, the two young men try to leave the bus, only to realize, that it may not be so easy. And worse; they may not be alone. Will they find a way out before "it" swallows them whole?

Line 88 is a short kinetic novel with walking elements. It takes about 20 minutes to complete and has elements of horror. There are no choices. Just let the story unfold as you dive deeper into the void.

This game may not work on your device if it is low spec and/or old, despite being a RPGMaker game. This is due to some plugins. It may work better in browser, but I cannot guarantee that everyone can play this game, my apologies.

You are welcome to stream or record this game, however I ask that you don't edit my logo and the content warning screen at the beginning, as well as the credits, out of the video. They are both very short segments

I am happy to accept translations for this game, so if you are interested, you can dm me on twitter. Please note that you will need a version of RPGMaker MV for the translation.

Great history and plot twist! Although Siren sounded so fake to me. Anyway, nice game!
ohhh thats how i know you i played this game a few months ago :]
btw happy halloween
The game was awesome! And I really liked Siren, I'd vibe with him, haha. But I just wanted to ask, is the game supposed to look "buggy"? I downloaded it instead of playing in browser, and it seemed like everything was buggy, not smooth animation, you know? But maybe that's how it's supposed to be, so I'd rather ask. No matter what it is, I still loved the game! Great job!
Thank you! The game isn't supposed to lag, it just does on a lot of devices unfortunately :'( I think it's because of the 3d plugin that I used, now the game acts like it has high-end graphics that require a new gen gaming pc😞(not really, it's just poorly optimised and I don't know how to fix that without breaking everything 😭)
Ah, I see. Well, no matter, the game is still good <3 I only own a 4+ yo gaming laptop, so no wonder the game's graphics are getting pissy haha
Unfortunately, when the bus goes dark, the game becomes nearly entirely unresponsive. Tried playing in browser, still no luck. Also, the lack of fullscreen is dull. Nice art though, interesting to see graphite artworks here.
It wont let me play :( it says its encountered a bug
i'm genuinely obessessed with your games, i plan to play all of them and your future ones!!
I love this game so much! I played it in browser and I saw "Submission to Yandere Game Jam 2023" and I knew one of them would end up being a yandere, but not sure who. I lowkey thought it would end up being Siren but then he said he had a gf and then I was thinking... Nao is a bit suspicious... bro said "I talk to..." and didn't finish his sentence... another great game from Hatoge!! <3
This game has such a cool style to it! Your work really made my day :) However the walking section could've been a little less...grating. I almost gave up a couple of times because it takes sooo long(the browser lag doesn't help) and nothing happens. Maybe it would've been better if the character moved on their own (since there's also nothing we can do except for walking forward) and the dialogue bits appeared more frequently...
I like it :D
THERE IS NO WAY THAT MAN IS STRAIGHT. Anyways I loved the game :)
Was not expecting that plot twist at all! I actually didn't even know it was part of the Yandere jam til the end.. I also really loved the hand-drawn artstyle in this game! I definitely need to look out for more rpgmaker games that utilize 2.5D as well (I've seen that eloquent countenance is another but that's it)
Thank you! I also love how unique 2.5D games look🥺 Hopefully I'll have ideas and time for another one soon! If you're looking for more 2.5D rpg maker games in the mean time, I can recommend Cold Front (same dev as eloquent) and beary the hatchet by team cetacity 😊
this game made me brainstorm with hundreds of theories, like maybe the bus wasnt really real and it was a psychological view into Nao's mind, maybe the entity was his desire to push people away so nobody abandons him, but the ending made me rethink everything lol! great game
The ending was wild!
it may be the best visual novel I have ever played after doki doki doki, art style and so on, you can develop this game further and put it on steame or you can develop it by receiving donations on kickstarter, if you personally start a kickstarter project, I will not hesitate to donate to you because you have done an extremely nice job.
Gets so so many style points for the textures on the environments. I like yao's silly walk cycle too.
damn, this game is too good for my computer, at some point it became slow and I couldn't even go to the menu. I think it ended great, it's a pity that I'm probably not destined to see the ending
EACH TIME THAT LIGHT NOISE (WITH THE BUZZING THING) WENT OFF I JUMPED IM SO DUMB
anyways
(not gonna write the actual ending because i'm too lazy to do the spoiler stuff so)
the ending had me yelling and just honestly
my jaw dropped i was losing my mind
I LOVE THIS GAME SM
Awesome game thank u for making it ^^ I had no idea u could even make something like this on MV like that kind of 3d thing but its very pretty..! got quite compelled by the characters too, great job <3
Game looks great, really interesing, beautiful artwork. Unfortunately it got impossibly laggy within a few minutes. I have a new gaming PC, just a few months old.
ahh this was so cool!
Great game! The visuals are beautiful and the muted colour palette really adds to the unsettling atmosphere. I really enjoyed the narrative, particularly the ending!
Looking forward to seeing what else you create!
aaaAAAAAAAAHHH so good!!!! Also i love love love the art direction it looks so nice!!!!!!!
Just.... Wow
I love the visual and the graphics also amazing but my laptop couldn't handle it pretty well that makes the game so lagging :""( I'll try playing this game on another laptop later :D hopefully I can play this game well :D
Why, why isn't this in Spanish?!?
Why the hell this game is so slow, in the technical sense
It could be that your device it's old
You are right! My pc was a shitty one but now I replaced it with a newer and boom...the game works just fine
im sure its an amazing game just like the rest of yours but my laptop was not having it with this one for some reason :'(
Cool shit, dude. Question though, what kind of plug-ins did you use to get that 3D effect?
Thanks! The plugin I used for the 3D effect is MV3D
Holy shit, I totally didn't expect that ending. Honestly I was so sucked in with the atmosphere you presented and the stillness of the entire game, I was so focused on being prepared for a jumpscare that I was blindsided at the ending. You really played well with our assumptions and understanding of the yandere trope, and you made the characters really well as in they acted the "role" we automatically assign them with. Which made the ending so much more impactful. SPOILERS BELOW!
When Siren was introduced, I genuinely thought he was the yandere, but it stopped as we kept progressing through the game and as we learned more about Siren, he felt so much normal and kind. I adored chatting with him and how it feels like he's like a spark of sunshine in this gloomy world (I love how the bus represents what I think Nao sees the world) and not only that, but the way Siren consistently gives effort to be with Nao even as a friend really touched me and makes me, in some ways, understand why Nao had to leave or else he would commit something far worse. Maybe even dull down Siren before he began to fully bloom into himself. Now, I'm going to go with a theory about Nao because good lord, that ending and the 180 of his personality hit me hard!
I'm not even sure if Nao is human or if he is a human host for a much darker entity. It seems as though he was human first before something attached to him and he just had to accept it as part of him. The entity itself seems to be some sort of dream like demon (I'm using this term very loosely) or that it can manipulate its prey's sense of reality and warp it (given the state of the bus). The both of them may have found a home in the forest (as evident in the greenery in the bus and the tree branches that flash through the screen) and could explain why Nao himself doesn't own a computer and a rather old phone. The reason why he could even be in net security is either he lied since Siren mentioned he was smart or that he uses his job as a means to spread the entity throughout the population as a sort of evil chain mail thing. At least, that's what I think it is.
What intrigues me is how Nao was able to play as this skittish person, but maybe he wasn't "acting". Maybe that's genuinely how he acts in front of other people, especially to those he cares about (Siren), but towards the entity he's more bold and authoritative, as if he knows he is the gateway the entity needs to cross between its reality and this reality which is why Nao is able to boss the entity than possible.
I just really loved how I was so blindsided towards Nao's true nature, he played it really well, able to earn sympathy from not only me but to Siren who, while sadly he said the "right" words as a friend, effectively doomed him and Sheila due to Nao's jealous/envious rage.
The atmosphere was so well done, I really love it! I'm just glad I was able to play one of your scary games without being a wuss because having to move around absolutely terrifies me ahahahah!
ngl i think nao looks like he could be crow and fio's kid
(from the game "sofia?")
I played this for my YouTube channel, so if anyone's interested in checking out the video in another tab, then follow this link!

Anyway, I just wanted to say how much I love the characters. I love how you think Siren is the yandere at the beginning, but towards the end, you realize he's just trying to resolve an unanswered problem (why Nao left). I also love how Nao isn't a traditional yandere if that makes any sense? The one that goes crazy immediately when they are left alone with the one they love. I know that was create a bigger twist and add suspense, but I really enjoyed that new type of yandere. And yeah, like most people I didn't see the ending coming :0 Towards the end I knew something was up, but a part of me still sort of thought it was Siren.
Overall this game was really interesting!!
i looked at like 2 comments before playing this and saw there was a twist, then i saw the yandere game jam and was so confused,, so imagine my shock when i saw the ending. i cant believe i still got caught off guard even though i knew there was gonna be a twist
nice game but whats with Sirens pants wasn't there anything more... fashionable?
This was cool! Loved the twist!
wow i definitely didn't expect that ending ngl i thought siren was the evil one
