Maxwell appears to be based on a combination of British auto manufacturers, specifically Vauxhall (due to the Asbo), and Ariel (due to the Vagrant). The company's name is also similar to that of Vauxhall. Maxwell's logo also bears resemblance to Talbot, another British car manufacturer.
