So how'd the deal go down? You sitting on some white gold?
Tommy Vercetti:
“
Look, Sonny, we were set up. The deal was an ambush. Harry and Lee are dead.
Sonny Forelli:
“
You better be kidding me, Tommy. Tell me you still got the money.
Tommy Vercetti:
“
No, Sonny, I don't have the money.
Sonny Forelli:
“
That was my money Tommy, MY MONEY! You better not be screwing me, Tommy because you know I'm not a man to be screwed with!
Tommy Vercetti:
“
Wait Sonny. You have my personal assurance that I'm gonna get you your money back and the drugs. And I'm gonna mail you the dicks of those responsible.
Sonny Forelli:
“
Hey. I already know that. You're not a fool Tommy, but I warn you, neither am I. If it was anybody else you'd be DEAD already.
Tommy starts the mission outside Ken's office then heads to the Ocean View Hotel and goes upstairs to his hotel room. Upon entering his room, he calls his boss Sonny, the head of the Forelli Crime Family. Sonny wants to know how the drug deal involving Tommy and the Vance Crime Family went. Tommy informs him that the deal was ambushed and that both Harry and Lee, who had accompanied him and Ken, were killed. Sonny asks if he still has the money, which Tommy does not. An irate Sonny reminds Tommy that he is "not a man to be screwed with" and that Tommy will have to get his money back. Tommy reassures Sonny that he will get him his money and the drugs back. Sonny tells Tommy he will be in touch before hanging up, and the cutscene ends with Tommy angrily throwing the phone to the floor.
Mission Objectives[]
In order to receive and complete the mission the player must:
Tommy! Tommy. It's been too long. (Tommy sighs on the other end of the phone) I know, I know. You're just overwhelmed with emotion. Fifteen years - seems like only yesterday.
Tommy:
I guess that's a perspective thing.
Sonny:
Hey, doing time for the the family is no piece of cake, but the family looks after its own, OK? So, how'd the deal go down - you sitting on some white gold?
Tommy:
Look, Sonny, we were set up. The deal was an ambush. Harry and Lee are dead.
Sonny:
You better be kidding me, Tommy. Tell me you still got the money.
Tommy:
No, Sonny, I don't have the money.
Sonny:
That was my money Tommy, MY MONEY!
Sonny slams the phone down on the table before picking it up again.
Sonny:
You better not be screwing me, Tommy, because you know I'm not a man to be screwed with!
Tommy:
Wait Sonny. You have my personal assurance that I'm gonna get you your money back and the drugs. And I'm gonna mail you the dicks of those responsible.
Sonny:
Hey. I already know that. You're not a fool Tommy, but I warn you, neither am I. If it was anybody else you'd be DEAD already. But because it's you, because we got history, I'm gonna let you handle this.
Tommy:
Look, Sonny, you got my word.
Sonny:
I'll be in touch.
Sonny hangs up and Tommy angrily throws the phone to the floor.
Sonny excitedly greets Tommy and says that it's been a long time since they last talked.
Sonny says that the day when Tommy was sent to prison 15 years ago seems like it was only yesterday.
Tommy replies saying that it does not look so for him.
Sonny says that getting in prison for doing jobs for the family is commendable, before asking how the deal went down.
Tommy tells Sonny that he, Harry and Lee were ambushed at the deal and that they're dead.
These news enrage Sonny who asks Tommy whether or not he still has the money Sonny gave him for the deal.
Tommy reveals that he left the money briefcases at the deal site.
Tommy losing the money enrages Sonny even more, to the point where he smashes the phone against the table. After picking the phone up again he tells Tommy that he better not be lying, as great consequences can follow.
Tommy tells Sonny to wait. He assures Sonny that he will get the money and the drugs he was supposed to buy back and that he will punish those responsible for the ambush.
Sonny tells Tommy that he knows that Tommy is capable of going to such lengths.
Sonny tells Tommy that if it was anybody else he'd already be dead.
However, because of the long friendship the two had, he is going to let Tommy get the money and the drugs back.
Tommy tells Sonny that he has Tommy's word, to which Sonny replies saying that he'll be in touch before hanging up.
Tommy is angered by this failure and smashes his phone into to the ground.
A picture of mafia boss Carlo Gambino can be seen on the wall behind Sonny in Marco's Bistro.[ref?]
When Tommy throws the phone, one can see that it freezes in mid-air before the cutscene ends.
This was fixed in the 10th Anniversary Edition and the Definitive Edition.
There is a minor bug where after completing the cutscene, saving the game and looking at the savegame, it will still be named "In The Beginning..." (Tested on PC, latest Steam version.)
