[AndroidTV] Regarding Ad Skipping in Interactive Advertising

Hi,


We are developing advertising functionality for an Android TV app using the IMA SDK. We are using our own proprietary ad server, and we're using VideoView as the player in the Android TV app.

Here's my question: When we tried playing interactive ads using SIMID, the ad's elapsed time and the skip button did not appear. Does this mean that the IMA SDK does not support these features? If it's possible to implement, I would appreciate any advice on how to do so.

※The "ad's elapsed time" and "skip button" refer to those displayed at the bottom left and bottom right of the attached image.

Hi,

The SDK optimizes skippable formats for TV-like devices, for instance by removing the ability to engage with a Learn More button. By default, the SDK sets focus on the skip button when skipping is available so the ad can be skipped on Android TV. Therefore, no extra work is necessary to support skippable ads. For more details kindly refer to this.

Hi,

I will try the content provided in the link for the skip button. On the other hand, would displaying the ad’s elapsed time require additional implementation? For reference, we have set the InteractiveCreativeFile tag.

Thank you for getting back to us.

I will raise a request to add the “skip button” and  “ad's elapsed time” feature in the SIMID. I cannot provide a scheduled timeline for the availability of this feature. I would recommend you to please follow our release notes for further updates. Meanwhile, could you kindly provide the SIMID URL for further investigation.

Hi Masa,

SIMID ads will render their own ad UI, this may or may not include skippable functionality depending on the ad.

Could you explain your use case, are you looking with new ad type?
