UNC Global Affairs provides faculty with support and funding to integrate Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) activities into UNC-Chapel Hill courses. We’ll support faculty in working with a colleague at an international institution to develop collaborative, virtual activities for students at both institutions as part of regularly scheduled courses. Funding is also available for graduate student support.

COIL Curriculum Development Award

As part of Carolina’s Diplomacy Initiative, UNC Global Affairs offers curriculum development awards and assistance to UNC-Chapel Hill faculty in any Carolina school or department.

Through Diplomacy Initiative Curriculum Development Awards, UNC-Chapel Hill faculty incorporate experiential learning into existing Carolina courses with modules (e.g., case studies or simulation exercises) aimed at solving global challenges.

UNC Global Affairs can assist faculty with identifying and, if needed, purchasing relevant case material for their course. Faculty may also request additional support for a graduate student to assist with course planning and development.

Diplomacy Initiative Award

Global partnerships have the power to enrich research and teaching for faculty and provide opportunities for students across the Carolina campus.

UNC Global Affairs offers Global Partnership Awards to create and sustain meaningful relationships with international partner institutions (typically a college or university).

Global Partnership Awards

UNC Global Affairs invites nominations for Faculty Awards for Global Excellence to recognize Carolina faculty members whose contributions advance global research, global learning, or global partnerships at UNC-Chapel Hill.
