Clair Aoki (青木 紅愛, Aoki Kurea) is the female protagonist of Gleipnir series. She is a young girl who is looking for her sister, who became a monster. After meeting Shuichi Kagaya, who was also a monster, she teamed up with him in order to help her find her.

Clair is an attractive fair-skinned young girl with upper-back length light brown hair that has bangs hanging over her forehead, brown eyes, freckles going across her face and she has quite a developed figure, more so than her older sister.
Her home leisure outfit is a shirt and panties.
While acting as the "pilot" she wears a dark blue one piece swimsuit.
Personality[]
Clair is a conflicted person. Seeing her sister become a monster and murder her family while no one believed her, made her feel lost and in utter despair to the point she attempted suicide.
After being saved by Shuichi in his monster form, she realizes that monsters are indeed real and decides to find her sister.
Initially viewing Shuichi with scorn, thinking of him purely as a monster she was verbally and physically abusive towards him, even blackmailing him and using him as her own tool. However, she soon learns that Shuichi is in fact terrified of the prospect of becoming a true monster and ever since develops a bond with him and vows to die if Shuichi does, so that he is not alone. This bond eventually evolves into romantic love.
In the process of finding her sister, she is ready to do anything, even killing other people and is shown to be able to kill her emotions with frightening cold precision.
A lighter side of her personality shows that she can be quite shameless and perverted, often undressing in front of Shuichi and even making lewd jokes. She's even comfortable with the idea of entering his body completely naked (since the mucus-like substance in him soaks her clothes); though she wears swimsuits as a compromise to make him feel less violated (since the situation is kind of a reverse sexual metaphor).

Plot[]
Clair wanted to end her life and started an arson, but was saved by Shuichi Kagaya. While being saved, she woke up and saw him as a monster.
The next day, she found Shuichi in school, showing him his phone and telling him she saw him and that she is interested in monsters like him and wishes to talk. As they met on the roof and Shuichi told her he wasn't a monster, she pushed him off. While falling, he transformed and then jumped back on the roof. She then started questioning him; what was he, and threatening she will reveal his secret. But Shuichi had no idea, and told her, he just transformed one day. On the way to her home, she introduced herself and showed him a coin she found, but Shuichi didn't know anything about it. In her apartment, she explained she was looking for her sister, who was a monster like him.
Power & Abilities[]
Clair has very little in the ways of fighting ability by herself. To do battle she relies on using Shuichi Kagaya's monster form by entering inside of him by opening the zipper in his back. While inside of him they "become one", able feel one other's feelings. She is able to take control of Shuichi's body as if it was her own and has overall more control over his body than he does while she is inside, although Shuichi can still wrestle for control to some extent.
When she and Shuichi become "one", they wield a katana as their weapon of choice.
After using a coin and becoming a monster, Clair gained the ability to manipulate her perception of time, which gives her greater speed and reaction time. While using her power, the world around her looks as if time has stopped.

Etymology[]
- The name Clair means "crimson, deep red" (紅) (kure) and "love, affection" (愛) (a).
- Clair's surname Aoki means "blue, green" (青) (ao) and "tree, wood" (木) (ki).
Trivia[]
- Although Clair lacks any special ability, she is very smart and cunning whenever she and Shuichi Kagaya finds themselves in a very difficult situation, she is also very good in making deals with other collectors when it suited her.
