What’s The Biggest Obstacle To Making The Sandman Movie?

Why is one key Walking Dead character missing from a cast photo? Tons of photos emerge from the set of Ant-Man. Plus, see what Once Upon a Time has in store for Frozen’s Elsa and previews for the rest of the shows returning this fall. Spoilers now!

Sandman

Joseph Gordon-Levitt talked to
Moviefone about the current state of the Sandman movie:

Right now we’re working on a script. It’s me and [David S.] Goyer and the screenwriter and Neil Gaiman, as well as the good folks at DC and Warner Bros. It’s a really cool team of people. It’s a lot of the same people who worked on the Nolan “Batman” movies. It’s really exciting. There’s not a script yet, we’re still kind of working it out because it’s such a complicated adaptation because “Sandman” wasn’t written as novels. “Sin City” was written as a novel. “Sandman” is 75 episodic issues. There’s a reason people have been trying and failing to adapt “Sandman” for the past 20 years.

Ant Man

Ant-Man just started filming in San Francisco, but tons of photos and videos from the set are already popping up online:

Ouija

The wrong spirit is summoned in the latest
Ouija trailer:

There are a lot of horror tropes stuffed in here, but lips sewn shut will always make me shudder.

Geostorm

According to
The Hollywood Reporter, Jim Sturgess, Abbie Cornish, Ed Harris and Andy Garcia are all in talks to star in the Dean Devlin-directed Geostorm. The film will star Gerard Butler as a satellite designer who must head into space to prevent a weather-controlling satellite from creating disastrous storm, while his brother discovers a plot to assassinate the US president. Sturgess is in negotiations to play the brother, Cornish to play Sturgess’ girlfriend, Harris to play the US Secretary of State, and Garcia to play the president.

Second Sunrise

Variety is reporting that the Romero Co. has acquired the rights to David and Aimée Thurlo’s novel Second Sunrise, about a Navajo vampire and an FBI agent who join forces to fight skinwalkers and foil a Nazi plot. Joanelle Romero will direct Carolyn Dunn and E.C. Galesi’s script, and a few cast members have already been announced: Eddie Spears, Sage Galesi, Balthazar Getty, and A. Martinez.

Doctor Who

Another day, another teaser reminding us how many days are left before the new series airs:

And Peter Capaldi talks about the fans welcoming him as the new Doctor:

The latest issue of Doctor Who Magazine is out, and
Combom is showing off the double-sided poster inside. One side features a Dalek uttering a quote we heard in an early Series 8 trailer, and the other shows the Twelfth Doctor, his earlier incarnations in the background, talking about rectifying the mistakes of his 2000 years of life. Is that the overarching theme of this new series?

Also, Chris Addison, who co-starred with Capaldi on
In the Thick of It, will make an appearance in the Series 8 finale.

The Walking Dead

Things look pretty…cannibal-ish in the latest teaser trailer. Is someone getting eaten before we head to DC?

And
AMC has posted this cast photo. Nice to see you all outside the train car. But where’s Daryl?

Daredevil

In an interview with
Screen Crush, Vincent D’Onofrio, who will be playing Kingpin on the Netflix series, teased that Marvel has a larger plan for the characters appearing in Daredevil:

Well, I think they have some kind of plan. I’m not really allowed to discuss what the plan is, but they have a plan. I think the beginning of the plan is series stuff with Netflix, and then they have a bigger plan to branch out, but I wouldn’t be able to tell you specifically what that is.

Hmm, the question is branch out where? He could just mean building to a new
Daredevil movie, but perhaps we could see these characters leading us into other, fresh Marvel Universe TV shows.

Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD

What is Coulson to do now that SHIELD is in tatters? He turns to some people he thinks he can trust to help him rebuild: SHIELD veteran Isabel Hartley (Lucy Lawless), assassin Lance Hunter (Nick Blood), and Barbara Morse. He’ll have to contend with HYDRA—including Daniel “The Kraken” Whitehall (Nick Blood)—but the rebuilding itself will take its toll on Coulson. Executive producer Maurissa Tancharoen told
TV Guide, “As director, [Coulson will] be faced with some tough decisions, harder decisions than he had to make as an agent. We’ll see the emotional consequences of that and we’ll see the shifts in dynamics between the characters because of that.”

Once Upon a Time

ABC just released a massive official description of the coming season. You can read the entire thing at
KSiteTV, but the meaty bits address the role of Frozen’s Elsa:

The Storybrooke residents do not know what Elsa has in store for them. Back in the past, in Elsa’s kingdom of Arendelle, we will discover what happened to her, her sister Anna and Kristoff, and how and why Elsa became a prisoner of Rumplestiltskin.

The Robin Hood love triangle:

And now that Emma has brought back Robin Hood’s wife, Marian, and possibly sparked the end of Regina’s relationship with him, will she return to her old, evil ways and do everything in her power to get even?

Rumplestiltskin and Belle’s relationship, which sounds like it ties to this week’s news that the actor who played the previous Dark One will show up again:

And newlyweds Belle and Rumplestiltskin continue to be deeply in love with each other. But Rumple is hiding a secret from Belle — one that, if found out, could destroy their happiness – he continues to be the master of the dagger that calls upon him to be the Dark One.

The Snow family:

Can Emma and Hook commit to one another, and can these two damaged people take their love to the next level? Mary Margaret and David have a new baby, Prince Neal, and are looking forward to raising him into a proud, brave and loving adult. But they are still sad that they were not able to do this with Emma, instead helping her escape the curse when she was first born and not meeting her again until she was 28 years old. Henry is very happy to have both of his mothers back in Storybrooke. But with biological mom Emma and paternal grandfather Rumplestiltskin’s blood running through his veins, he will be tested by both the light and the darkness.

And Will Scarlet’s appearance:

Finally, Will Scarlet (Michael Socha, “Once Upon a Time in Wonderland”), a former member of Robin Hood’s band of Merry Men, has traveled across many lands to make his way to Storybrooke. He finds himself intertwined in the goings-on in town for the first time as his mysterious past pushes him to an unknown future.

And there are behind-the-scenes photos with lots of pretty dresses! See the whole set

Person of Interest

This season will focus on the battle between the Machine and Samaritan, and the differences between what Finch programmed and a machine with rather different priorities. But we’ll also get to see each of our scattered characters in their assumed identities working normal person day jobs before they find their way back together.

Sleepy Hollow

With Irving stuck in Tarry Town psychiatric, Abbie and Ichabod will team up with a bounty hunter, played by Matt Barr, while butting heads with the new sheriff, played by Sakina Jaffrey. When not dealing with Jeremy’s psychological warfare (he’s now a lawyer in Sleepy Hollow) or the local wendigos, succubi, and Pied Pipers, they’ll be building a monster known as the Kindred, made from Headless’ head. Oh, and a man-type person might get in the way of Abbie and Jenny’s friendship. Boo.

The 100

The adults who survived the Ark landing are now on Earth, and Kane finds he has trouble maintaining law and order—and questions arise about his authority. And Jasper’s affections will move from Octavia to “a studious worker” named Maya.

Arrow

We’re picking up the new season eight months from where we left off, and things are looking good for Team Arrow—with Arsenal and Wildcat on board, and Laurel maybe taking up the mantle of the Black Canary. Oliver is even feeling about ready to finally ask Felicity out on a date. But in addition to Ra’s al Ghul, Oliver will have to contend with Ray “The Atom” Palmer, who has designs on Queen Consolidated—and Felicity. And family will further complicate matters as Oliver pushes Diggle away as he prepares for fatherhood and Malcolm Merlyn maybe training Thea to battle the Arrow. And Tommy will be back sometime this season.

The Vampire Diaries

Damon might be kind of dead (and not just undead), but that doesn’t mean he’s going to be absent from the upcoming season. Ian Somerhalder posted this picture to Instagram:

Regarding what’s going on with Bonnie and Damon this season, executive producer Julie Plec told
TVLine, “It’s not torturous, but it’s by no means a roller coaster ride of fun. If nothing else, it’s a bit of an existential experience.” An existential experience with blood, apparently.

Meanwhile, the other characters will be dealing with their grief. Elena will bond with Stefan and Alaric, while Caroline, who takes the loss of Bonnie and Damon hardest out of the group, will have to deal with Tyler who is back to being a hardhead now that he’s human. Matt, on the other hand, finds himself thriving in the magic-less community. Colin Ferguson will join the cast as a militia leader, as will Jodi Lyn O’Keefe as a tough university hospital doctor.

The Originals

Klaus is going to be on a rampage as this season begins, intent on destroying everyone keeping him from baby Hope, and when Esther makes it known that she’s still around in a new body, that will just add fuel to the fire. But Klaus will be closely allied with Marcel, whom he hopes can help him deal with the Guerreras. Those two will have something to say about Davina’s decision to bring back Mikael and while Haley and Elijah shared a kiss last season, they won’t become a couple in the near future.

Supernatural

Dean may be pretty happy as a demon, but no one—not even Crowley—likes the troublesome Demon Dean much. Although Castiel is getting weaker, he’s intent on getting Dean back to normal—more intent on fixing Dean than recovering his own powers. And as we’ve heard before, the 200th episode of Supernatural will be somehow “musical-ish.”

Haven
