Lego’s Newest Batmobile Is the Grooviest of Them All

Batman '66's all time classic of a roadster is getting the glorious Lego treatment it deserves.

There have been many Batmobiles over the years, and many Lego Batmobiles to boot, but the 1966 TV show’s take on Bruce’s ride of choice has always been one of the best. The bold red stripes, the sleek angles, that dual front mirror almost looking like the eyes on Batman’s masks: it’s a perfect reflection of the series’ own groovy spin on the caped crusader. And while it’s not the first time it’s been rendered in Lego, this is definitely the best it’s ever looked in brick form.

This week Lego quietly Batusi’d in and announced that next month will see the release of a new 1,822 piece replica of the classic ’60s Batmobile. The model does a fantastic job of using its larger scale to capture the sleek lines and curves of the original vehicle, and little features, like a fully details interior for both Batman and Robin’s sides of the car, and an opening trunk that even contains the mobile crime computer. While it’s not minifigure scale (the last one of those came a few years ago back in 2021), the new set does come with a minifigure of Adam West’s legendary Bright Knight, complete with a little display base of a Gargoyle=accented rooftop corner for him to pose with a batarang on.

Hands On With the Lego Batman ’66 Batmobile

It’s not just a fantastic looking set, but also–in a surprising turn for Lego, who’s more premium sets have been giving people quite the bit of sticker shock lately–actually not too badly priced. At $150 for 1,800 pieces and a replica of its size, it’s a pretty reasonable asking price compared to some of Lego’s recent big-ticket collectors sets like The Legend of Zelda Deku Tree, or even just larger offerings in its regular lines. Not that $150 isn’t still a lot of money, but compared to where Lego has been trending on its buzzy adult sets lately, it’s not bad at all.

The ’66 Batmobile will screech into stores from October 1–and is already available for preorder.
