Ruth Stone House Capital Campaign

The Ruth Stone House (RSH), a 501c3 nonprofit established in 2016, is a multifaceted organization which offers virtual and in-person literary arts education programming to the public. The Ruth Stone House\u2019s property\u2013on roughly 4 acres in the Green Mountain National Forest of Goshen, VT\u2013was home to the late, acclaimed poet, Ruth Stone, bequeathed in her will to be used for the nurturing of poetry and the literary arts. The property comprises three structures: one main farm house, one small one-room house with a large upstairs loft (both houses built around 1800s), as well as and a rustic cabin deep in the woods, built in the 1970s. All structures are in need of extensive repair.<\/p>\n\n

By restoring Ruth our organization\u2019s physical property, (listed on the Nation Historic Register of historic landmarks) we will be able to literally \u201chouse\u201d vital arts education in<\/em> Vermont, as well as preserve and share the legacy of a beloved Vermont poet. Bringing this material project to completion will actualize our goals of centralizing and continuing to grow our programming, which includes classes, workshops, reading events, print-making and residencies and the building out of a poetry library.<\/p>\n

The Ruth Stone House Capital Campaign seeks to restore the property to an innovative, intimate writers retreat, event space and resource for the community to foster the literary arts. Our campaign focuses on the physical repairs needed to support our nonprofit's mission statement, as well as stabilize programming for the immediate future. <\/p>\n

RSH has made culturally significant contributions through our partnerships with schools and libraries throughout multiple VT counties, and has become a financially viable organization through our many virtual and live programs. However, our programming greatly needs additional infrastructure to support its continued growth. The Ruth Stone House is seeking $500,00 to complete the full scope of the project. Having reached over 50% of our goal as of March, 2023, we are prepared to make additional direct requests to major gift donors and to continue our Capital Campaign to raise a minimum of $200,000. <\/p>\n\n
