Hi, my name is Juliette.
I work full time on open source projects. The majority of this work is currently unpaid.

I am the creator of the PHP Cheatsheets, PHPUnit Polyfills (to allow for running your tests on multiple PHPUnit versions), PHPCSUtils and PHPCSExtra.

I also (co-)maintain and generally do the bulk of the work for projects like PHP_CodeSniffer (the designated successor to the Squizlabs project), PHP-Parallel-Lint, the Composer Installer plugin for PHP_CodeSniffer, PHPCompatibility and the WordPress Coding Standards.

I know for a fact that these open source projects save companies which use them hundreds, if not thousands, of developer hours a year by preventing bugs from being committed to the code base, keeping tests running, making code reviews less painful and auto-fixing code formatting issues, so I think it is about time for some of those savings to fund my work. I hope you agree.

I view open source sponsorships as a form of insurance. Just like you insure a building when it's not on fire, you should insure the long levity of open source projects by funding them.

Funding open source projects helps to prevent maintainer burn-out, allows for training co-maintainers and generally helps to keep projects healthy, maintained and relevant.

Funding does not buy you priority treatment or influence on the project (just like insuring your building does not give you a seat on the board of the insurance company).

So... if you think these projects, and all the others I'm involved with, deserve to continue, please draw your wallet and let your money do the talking.
