I have this suggestion below, let me know how it sounds -
Users should be able authentication via github account alongside twitter.
We will take github api permission for accessing there public repos and public activity.
This public activity, taken from github will be shown on activity page of idea hub.
It will show recent open source contributions by ideahub members.
It will show all member profiles with
total number of open source commits member has made.
project wise details for how many commits made on which project. This helps decide whom should I concern if I have prob/something with a project. Kind of easy to see what's a persons major contribution goes to.
We can also make list of top open source contributors. This will be weekly or monthly list. List will depend on no. of commits made in opensource. If this creates a healthy competition and some excitement to ideahub, I would love this feature.
Also, I feel, if we can make a rails engine to do above things, this can be used by other local ruby community sites as well.
What say ?
