The confidence is a value between 1 and 3, while the horizontal accuracy is not exactly clear but by the authors it is the accuracy in meters the phone has reported. I have tested around a bit and the confidence value matches with how good/bad the location report is, and it too me seams tied to the horizontal accuracy.

I would gladly do a PR to allow of both of these values to be used

Interesting, thanks for sharing! It looks like the library's confidence value actually represents the horizontal accuracy in that case. I'll gladly accept a PR to adjust that 🙂
