A mysterious countdown has appeared on the Fortnite island as Chapter 5 Season 3 begins to wrap up, meaning that there will likely be a mini event to watch once that timer goes off.

You can find this in Brutal Beachhead being projected as a hologram, but beyond that, not much else is happening around the timer itself for now.

Below we list out the start times for the countdown timer in your region, as well as what we know based on datamines on what may happen when the timer finishes.

Fortnite live event time: When does the countdown end?

Based on what we’re seeing in game, the live event countdown will end on Saturday, Aug. 10 in most regions at the following times:

  • 11 a.m. PDT for the west coast of North America
  • 2 p.m. EDT for the east coast of North America
  • 7 p.m. BST for the U.K.
  • 8 p.m. CEST for western Europe/Paris
  • 3 a.m. JST for Japan/Tokyo on Aug. 11
  • 4 a.m. AET for Australia/Sydney on Aug. 11

Note you should hop into game shortly before this, loot up, and head over to Brutal Beachhead if you want to see what’s going to happen.

What’s going to happen in Fortnite when the countdown timer ends?

There has been no formal announcement about what the deal is with that timer, but some data miners have dug up information about what will probably happen. For those who don’t mind spoilers, you can scroll past the image below.

The long and short of it is — following the event, the map is likely going to change a little bit, and there will be some kind of tie-in to the upcoming season four.

This map image from the FortniteLeaks subreddit does imply that there will be a slight map change after the event. The map change mainly focuses on Redline Rig, which has some kind of explosive structure in it now.

Another dataminer, McMistrzYT on X (formerly Twitter), has rendered the 3D version of the map to show that that explosive item is: Pandora’s Box!

It appears that more mischief is about to be released by the box for the upcoming season, but we’ll have to wait and see.

While you wait, be sure to jump into the recently added Fall Guys challenge and get some easy XP before the season ends.
