I read a little discussion on this page and I wanted to check the status of Firefox on caniuse.com since the discussion is some years old.
I couldn't find CSS content on caniuse.com.
Hereby I am requesting it as a new little feature.

Hi there, still needed! It'd be awesome to have compatibility info 😄

I was also looking for this.

There is https://caniuse.com/#feat=css-gencontent which speaks specifically about the content attribute for ::before and ::after pseudo-elements but not about its wider support.

The accepted answer on this related StackOverflow question states:

The other answer using CSS gives the right idea, but it is not compatible with all browsers. The content property of the CSS is only allowed in the pseudo-elements ::before and ::after.

However, in my testing - content() does work on the latest desktop versions of Chrome, Firefox and Safari, but has no caniuse entry.
