+1; AFAIK, only Blink currently supports it (no idea since when, though)

Apparently Blink doesn't. Dropped in Apr 2013 as unfinished and unowned. :(

image-resolution: from-image would cause images to be sized based on the image's DPI header. This makes it possible to substitute retina images without the server needing to know the image's resolution as long as you remember to tag all your images with 192 or 96dpi depending on whether they're retina or not.
