Pregressive JPEGs start to show on pages faster, from low quality and eventually getting their 100% quality

Support differs in <img> and background-image. Some support info: http://calendar.perfplanet.com/2012/progressive-jpegs-a-new-best-practice/

Typo in the title though, should be "progressive" :)

Though Safari now renders PJPEG as of 8.x (tested myself on my iOS 8.4.1 iPhone), I'd still like to see what browsers render in background (see OP).

+1 as well, closest think you can see is maybe the wiki page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_layout_engines_%28graphics%29#JPEG_support
pjpg will work in almost every except a few IE browsers (it will still load, just not progressive)

Suegessted in 2015 and still not added, hope this will be added
