Borbo's Quest
Borbo's Quest is a short adventure game in which you play as Borbo, a 10 year-old kid set on a quest to retrieve their stolen birthday cake. Journey through a charming puzzle-filled world to track down Nasty Cake Jake and retrieve your precious cake.
Borbo's Quest is built using the GBStudio open-source engine and runs on the original Game Boy. Alongside the in-browser version of the game, a ROM file is included and can be played on the Game Boy emulator of your choice.
Controls:
- A - Confirm/ Interact (Z key on keyboard)
- B - Cancel (X key on keyboard)
- Start - Menu (Enter key on keyboard)

Install instructions
To Play the .ROM file:
Download and play the ROM file (game.gb) on your emulator or flash cart of choice. Personal emulator recommendation is Visual Boy Advance.
Custom cartridges have been made but unfortunately they are not available for purchase at this time. Feel free to make your own if you so choose.

Wow! I really liked the combination of a cool story with quests and puzzles (great designed!). Awesome and cute game!
Very cute little puzzle game! Love the character sprites! Borbo reminds me of a marshmallow. I very much enjoyed this!

i love this game so much, all the little details like the kitties are adorable! i love the character designs, especially the wizard! i found this on cool math games, but they don't link to your itch.io page at all. i don't want to assume the worst, but i'm really hoping they got your permission to use your game. :/ anyway, i loved the game and i'm looking forward to seeing what else you make!
Thank you so much for your nice comment, and for looking out for me! Don't worry, they licensed the game from me and have been incredibly kind throughout the whole process. What you played on CMG is a slightly altered version I made for them to be a bit more child-friendly (removed the captain's smoking and changed a minor character's dialogue).

I really like the Game and I assume the levels are expandable to have a longer overall play time in future releases. Just one thing is a bit annoying: The browser controls Z/X are a bad choice for non-English keyboard layouts. E.g. German layout has Z and Y swapped.
Game soft-locked during the puzzle on floor 8 when I pushed the boulder towards the elevator. No option but to start over.
Hey, I'm so sorry about that! I'm trying to replicate your issue but can't figure it out. When the elevator door was blocked, could you not just talk to the Reset Frog to clear the way and restart the puzzle?
As soon as the boulder hit the elevator, a weird noise played and my character disappeared.
Thank you so much for your help! I've figured out the issue. Interestingly enough, it technically wasn't a softlock as when the glitch occurs you just turn invisible haha. I'll be publishing the update as soon as I can.
Might want to rename the ROM file to something other than "game" so we can identify which game it is in our download directory without having to load it into a GameBoy or emulator .

damn this game is so delightful!! it's charming it's cute it's fun to puzzle solve, such a sweet lil' game dude : ) takes abt 1 hour to beat if u talk to everybody!
