Mixed Doubles is the 6th episode of Season 4 of Frasier.
Synopsis[]
DOUBLE TAKE – When Daphne breaks up with her contractor boyfriend, Niles thinks this may be his opportunity to declare his feelings for her. Unfortunately, Frasier convinces him that he will only be setting himself up for pain – because it's obvious he's not Daphne's type. As Niles hesitates, romance blossoms on another front for both Daphne and himself.

Trivia[]
- Niles' shattering of Frasier's Catherine of Aragon coffee mug could be a reference to Henry VIII's annulment of his marriage to the Queen in 1533, so that he was free to marry Anne Boleyn. The shattering could refer to their marriage being "shattered," while Anne Boleyn remains intact.
CONTINUITY
- Although it was hinted at previously that Daphne is attracted to a man who talks, acts and even looks like Niles, this episode is the first to outright establish that she might return Niles's feelings.
