Death And The Dog is the 12th episode of Season 4 of Frasier.

Synopsis[]

DOGGIE BLUES – When Eddie becomes lethargic and refuses to eat, Daphne and Martin try everything to perk him up. Much to the amusement of Frasier and Niles, Martin calls an animal psychiatrist (guest star Zeljko Ivanek) to consult with the dog. Also, Roz meets a handsome young doctor who is a bit too knowledgeable about the female persuasion.

  • The guest caller was Patty Duke, whose call was about dealing with depression. This guest spot may have been planned, as Patty Duke suffered from congenital bipolar disorder, which involved serious bouts of depression.   • When he sits at the piano, Niles plays a rather melancholy version of "Where, Oh Where Has My Little Dog Gone?"
  • The title is a reference to the 1994 film Death and the Maiden, which was based on the play of the same name.
