Caught in the Act is the fifteenth episode of Season 11 on NBC series Frasier.

Plot Summary[]

After a long time, Frasier meets his ex-wife Nanette again. Bored with her job entertaining children as a character named Nanny G, she's built up an enormous amount of passion she desperately wants to share with Frasier. However, she's married to her producer Donald. Not having had sex in six months, it's very hard for Frasier to do the right thing, especially with Nanette doing what she can to get some time alone with him.

Trivia[]

  • The scenes during Nanny G's show were not shot in front of a studio audience; they were played back on a TV monitor to get a laugh track. The audience laughed so hard that the volume had to be turned down to avoid drowning out the dialogue.
  • The "prop room" where Nanny G attempts to bed Frasier is the set from Cheers. They walk down the stairway that was used as the entrance to the bar.
  • Laurie Metcalf is the third actress to play Nanette/Nanny G. Emma Thompson portrayed Nanny G on Cheers in 1992, while Dina Spybey-Waters played the character in the 2001 episode Don Juan In Hell: Part 2 of Frasier.
  • At one point, Nanny G asks Frasier, "Do you have any idea what its like to play the same character for 20 years?", a reference to the fact that Kelsey Grammer has played Frasier Crane for 20 years.
  • Nanny G sings the Hoppity-Hop song and In Nanny's Messy Bed during the episode.
