Pellis est densum saetarum incrementum quod cutim multorum animalium variorum tegit. Definitiva mammalium proprietas est. In capillis oleosis supra et capillis densis infra consistit, quorum illi prohibent ne humor cutim attingat, et hi sunt lodicula insulationis thermalis, quae animal calefacit.[1] Pelli mammalium sunt multi usus: tutela, sensus, aquae impermeabilitas, et dissimulatio, sed primus est ordinatio caloris.[2]
