1 day agoFriday Update on Saturday's Stormswww.youtube.com on YouTubeAll eyes on the Saturday storm system. We continue with a First Alert Weather Day with the threat of strong to severe storms moving in after 10pm. Saturday will start with a round of showers and storms in the morning with temperatures in the upper 40s. We don’t expect any severe weather with the morning round. It will be a dry and windy afternoon with sustained winds around 20mph and wind gusts near 40 mph by sunset. A windy, warm and muggy evening with storms entering the western part of Alabama around 10pm. A line of strong to severe storms will track east into the overnight hours. This line of storms will contain very heavy rain, strong gusty winds and frequent lightning. Some of the stronger storms will be capable of damaging straight line winds over 60 mph and embedded tornadoes where we have breaks in the line and bowing segments within the line. This storm system will have a lot of wind shear but limited instability. At time we don’t anticipate isolated supercells developing ahead of the main line. Stay tuned for updates and be prepared for possible power outages with the strong gusty winds. Much cooler air will move in Sunday. The next chance of rain will be here Wednesday. Some areas along and north of HWY 72 could have a wintry mix early Wednesday. #alwx
