It sits neatly in between two of the country's most popular destinations, Brussels and Antwerp. With such grand, important neighbours it's easy to imagine the city being overshadowed, but this wasn't always the case. In fact, for quite some time during the Middle Ages, the cities of Antwerp and Mechelen were major trade rivals. Visiting, it soon became clear that Mechelen has everything you look for in a great Belgian destination.
