World Champion (ワールドチャンピオン, Wārudo Chanpion?) is a recurring weapon in the Final Fantasy series. Originally appearing as the ultimate weapon for Wakka, it has since become the ultimate weapon for Tidus in later games.
Appearances[]
Final Fantasy X[]
World Champion is the Celestial Weapon for Wakka, obtained by talking to the barkeeper in the cafe in Luca after coming in at least third in a blitzball tournament, or win five blitzball games. She will ask the player to see the Celestial Mirror, and if obliged, will yield the weapon.
World Champion starts with No AP as its default ability, and when leveled up with the Jupiter/Mercury Crest (name depends on version), obtained in the Besaid Aurochs locker room, gains Double Overdrive. After being powered up by the Jupiter/Mercury Sigil (obtained randomly with 50% chance as prize in a blitzball league once the player wins all three of Wakka's Overdrives in previous competitions), it has the abilities Break Damage Limit, Triple Overdrive, Double AP, and Evade & Counter. Upgrading the World Champion with the Jupiter/Mercury Crest also allows Ifrit to break the damage limit.
The World Champion deals more damage the closer Wakka is to his max HP, with the formula as follows:
- (10 + [100 * User's current HP ÷ User's Max HP]) ÷ 110
The weapon was originally owned by High Summoner Ohalland.

While not an equippable weapon, the World Champion appears as part of the final boss's Terror of Zanarkand attack during the final hit.
