EW's editorial guidelines Published on October 31, 2023 11:13AM EDT No pop culture entity — or, uh, fusion, if you will — was safe, as Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos went all out with dozens of costume changes for Live's annual Halloween episode. The talk-show cohosts and spouses touted 50 Halloween costume changes ahead of Tuesday's annual holiday edition, and they certainly delivered. The couple kicked off the show with a nod to the blockbuster box office hit Barbie, with Ripa literally stopping the show to interrupt a dance sequence and playfully suggest that she was "not doing the Halloween" episode next year. ABC As they do every year, Ripa and Consuelos mixed references from movies and TV shows in a series of pre-taped sketches, with Ripa starring as Jennifer Coolidge in a White Lotus spoof set on the shores of New Jersey, which included Jersey Shore stars JWoww and Snooki in hilarious supporting roles. ABC Next, the duo spoofed The Golden Bachelor (featuring a cameo from Gerry Turner) dressed as contestants in a scene that ended with a funeral for a parrot. After that, they punctuated their costume rollout with a look back at some of their classics from years past while dressed as Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz, a costume they first wore on Live in 2018. They later returned as Demi Moore and Patrick Swayze in the famous pottery scene from the movie Ghost — and yes, Consuelos kept up Live's current standard of morning TV horniness, appearing shirtless. Finally, they capped this year's Halloween edition as Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce to give away prizes for the best viewer costume and the most jaw-dropping attire worn by a studio audience member.
