Adam Sandler confirms Travis Kelce will appear in Happy Gilmore 2

"He's going to come by and he's a very nice guy," the actor said of the football star. "You guys would love him in real life."

Travis Kelce will soon be joining Adam Sandler on the green in Happy Gilmore 2

While visiting The Tonight Show on Tuesday, Sandler confirmed that the Kansas City Chiefs tight end will make an appearance in the highly anticipated sequel to his 1996 golf comedy. “We have a nice something for Travis,” the actor told host Jimmy Fallon. “He’s going to come by and he’s a very nice guy. You guys would love him in real life."

Sandler added, "What a big, handsome guy. Funny and cool as hell.”

Sandler’s confirmation of Kelce’s cameo in the film comes after the athlete took a moment to address a "conspiracy theory" that he was involved in the project on his New Heights podcast last May. “I didn’t even know there was a job opening for Happy Gilmore 2, but if there is, I’ll be a f---ing extra,” Kelce declared. “Anything to get around Happy Gilmore, an Adam Sandler film, or set — count me in.”

The football star, who described himself as a “huge fan of the Sandman,” downplayed the suggestion that he'd make an appearance in the film, but didn't fully close the door on the idea either.

“Who knows? Theories can come true. Theories can be true and just people don’t know about it,” he hedged. “So I might even be in the talking [phase] and nobody knows about it, but I could also not be in the talking.”

Kelce, who is dating Taylor Swift, has been making waves in both the acting and sports worlds as of late. His team not only won the Super Bowl earlier this year, but he previously hosted Saturday Night Live and is set to star in Ryan Murphy's upcoming horror drama Grotesquerie opposite Niecy Nash-Betts.

Kelce is not the only athlete who will pop up in the film, either. While on The Tonight Show, Sandler confirmed that multiple golfers are “going to to be a part” of it too, though he didn't shout out any specific names.

Sandler also acknowledged that he put off writing a potential sequel to the original film because he "didn't want to let anybody down" if the story wasn't up to par.

“People have been asking me for a long time, ‘Do Happy Gilmore 2.’ And I was always like, ‘Nah, that’s — I’ll only let you down.’ But then me and my buddy Tim Herlihy, we came up with this idea,” he said. “We’re really excited about it. We wrote our asses off. We’re continuing to try to make it a movie that I think you guys will like. We’re excited.”
