Police: Boys, 13 and 14, shot in Mount Airy on Sunday

A 13-year-old boy and a 14-year-old boy were shot Sunday afternoon in Mount Airy, police said.

Officers responded to the 5400 block of Kirby Avenue just after 2 p.m.,  Lt. Jonathan Cunningham said Monday. One of the teens was taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center and the other was taken to Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, he said.

On Monday morning, police did not have information about the extent of the teen's injuries. Their names have not been released.

No arrests have been made and police are still investigating the incident.

So far this year, 37 juveniles have been shot in Cincinnati, according to police data. At this point last year 57 teens had been shot.

While fewer shootings have happened citywide this year compared to last year, the Mount Airy neighborhood has seen an increase. Last year, a total of seven people were shot there compared to 11 so far this year. This includes a triple shooting last month on Shadymist Lane.
