Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Training | This training for employees, supervisors, and HR professionals that increases awareness of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Policy on Accommodations and familiarizes participants with their responsibilities and available resources. BEST Training | Required live training for employee supervisors that covers a number of topics pertaining to their role as a supervisor at the University. EOC presents a section of the training that provides information about maintaining a welcoming and equitable work environment, as well as equal opportunity laws. | Contact your HR officer to register. |
Building Supportive Communities: Clery Act and Title IX Training | This training takes a close look at the issue of sexual harassment, including sexual assault, relationship violence, and stalking in higher education. | Register now |
Building Supportive Communities: Taking Action | This online class supports Clery Act ongoing education requirements on ways to prevent sexual harassment and maintain a safe campus community. This training also prepares faculty and staff for providing supportive and effective responses when someone may have experienced sexual harassment, sexual or intimate partner violence, or stalking. | Register now |
Equal Employment Opportunity and Diversity Fundamentals Training | This training is offered by the Office of State Human Resources (OSHR) and is required by law for managerial and supervisory employees. Participants learn about federal and state equal employment opportunity and affirmative action laws in the context of daily work situations. This training consists of an online portion and a one-day live portion, held either virtually or at sites throughout the state. Empower UNC Responding to Disclosures of GBV (gender-based violence) | Empower UNC: Responding to Disclosures of GBV (gender-based violence) is a training collaboration between Violence Prevention and Advocacy Services (VPAS) and Equal Opportunity and Compliance (EOC). This updated training replaced UNC’s former HAVEN training. Empower UNC equips students and employees with information, resources, and strategies to respond to disclosures of sexual violence, interpersonal violence, stalking, and sexual and gender-based harassment in an informed and compassionate way. This training consists of two parts. The first part is an online video that students and employees will receive upon registration and may complete asynchronously at their convenience. The second part is an in-person, live training session facilitated by staff from VPAS and EOC. | Register for Empower UNC |
Policy 101 | This training provides information about the University’s Policy on Prohibited Discrimination, Harassment and Related Misconduct. Participants learn about the types of conduct that are prohibited at UNC-Chapel Hill, how to report an incident, and what happens when a report is made to EOC. Accommodations in the Workplace | This live training for employees provides information about the University’s Policy on Prohibited Discrimination, Harassment and Related Misconduct and the University’s commitment to providing reasonable accommodations for employees and students related to disability, religion, and pregnancy and related medical conditions. Responsible Employee | This 20-minute webinar provides information about the reporting requirements for employees designated as Responsible Employees, what happens after a report is made, tips for letting people know about your reporting responsibilities, and information about resources available to help those affected by incidents. EOC will notify employees if they have reporting responsibilities and will inform them of the requirement to complete this webinar. Responsible Employees are required to complete the training every year. Conducting a Fair and Diverse Search | Conducting a Fair and Diverse Search – This online training provides guidance for faculty and staff hiring committees. The Committee updated training, which should take no more than 60 minutes to complete, focuses on recruiting, hiring, and retaining an excellent and diverse workforce. All hiring supervisors, search committee chairs, and members must complete the training before beginning the search process. | Take the Search Committee Training |
Sexual Assault Prevention | An online module provided through a partnership between the Equal Opportunity and Compliance and Student Wellness. It introduces students to the dynamics of sexual assault and how to prevent it from happening to their peers through bystander intervention. | Everfi Sexual Assault Prevention Module |
Harassment and Discrimination Prevention Training | This mandatory online training course discusses the laws governing discrimination and violence, helps you identify these issues on campus, and provides the resources and reporting options available to you if you or someone you know experiences discrimination or violence. This training is required for all employees, including part-time and temporary employees of the University. All students, including part-time and distance learning students are required to complete the course. Both groups take the course every other year and are notified through email regarding access to the training. Student employees are required to take only the employee version of the training and they are required to complete the course every year. Veterans Program | The Veterans Program is designed to help the University recruit, hire, and retain veterans from the United States Armed Forces through events, attendance at job fairs, and resources. The program is currently in development and is led by EOC and the Office of Human Resources. | More Information Coming Soon |
If existing trainings do not meet your organization’s needs, EOC staff may be able to create custom trainings to address issues related to any protected status and related forms of misconduct, including sexual assault, interpersonal (relationship) violence, workplace violence, and stalking. If you are an office, department, organization, residence hall, or unit, contact EOC for more information at least one month in advance of your proposed training date to discuss your training needs and whether a custom training is a good fit.

Office of Human Resources – Trainings
Courses that are designed to develop and enhance essential workplace skills and increase job effectiveness.
Raise the Bar is an outreach and education initiative to local bars on alcohol and other drug-facilitated sexual assault (DFSA) as well as a bystander intervention training specifically for bar staff. They learn to recognize and intervene when they see warning signs of drug-facilitated sexual assault.
An in-person training offered by the LGBTQ Center that seeks to build a network of community and campus staff, faculty, and students to support people of all sexual orientations, gender identities, and gender expressions on campus.
The Safe at UNC campaign raises awareness of the importance of respect, inclusion, and a shared commitment among our campus community to look out for the well-being of fellow Tar Heels. The campaign uses digital and grass roots outreach to share resources and information about discrimination, harassment, sexual violence, interpersonal violence, and stalking.
Tar Heel Tribute is an annual program that celebrates faculty, students, and staff who have served in the United States Armed Forces. The event provides an opportunity to thank veterans within our campus community for their dedication and service and to share information about resources available to them within the campus community.
