La Muse, a music organization from the HCMC Conservatory of Music, delighted audiences on December 14 evening with “REVERIE,” a classical guitar concert paired with the art exhibition “Biophilia & Naturalis.”
The concert was held in District 1, featuring eight guitar compositions through solos, trios, quartets, and ensembles. Highlights of the evening included performances by guest artists Nguyen Thanh Huy, Phung Thai Ha, and meritorious artist Luong Thang Long, alongside Conservatory Guitar Faculty musicians.
Unlike traditional concerts, “REVERIE” incorporated installation art, creating a multi-sensory space for attendees to enjoy music and visual art. Guests immersed themselves in an artistic journey through the distinctive works of international artists Patricia Nathalie and Devon Nguyen. Attendees were treated to a selection of fine wines, elevating the sensory experience.
Vietnam Bakery Cup 2024 attracts hundreds of contestants
About 500 professional bakers, local and international alike, took part in the Vietnam Bakery Cup 2024 (VNBC 2024) as part of the Vietnam International Bakery Show 2024 (VIBS 2024) held at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center (SECC) in District 7, HCMC, from December 11 to 14.
This was the first competition organized by the Vietnam Bakery Association (VNBA). VNBC 2024 was participated by professional bakers and cooks from Vietnam, China, Malaysia and South Korea. The event took place from December 11 to 13, including 20 baking and cooking contests of international standards for talented contestants.
VNBC 2024 was an opportunity to promote the value of and develop Vietnam’s bakery and a chance for Vietnamese cooks and bakers to compete with and learn from international peers to improve their expertise.
The four-day VIBS 2024 marked the return of this event after its first debut in 2019. This year’s event featured 200 booths of about 120 local and international exhibitors, highlighting their state-of-the-art bakery machinery and equipment, high-quality ingredients, and new and eye-catching cakes, cookies and biscuits.
Khanh Hoa has another national intangible cultural heritage
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has decided to include the knowledge of exploiting and processing Khanh Hoa Province’s bird’s nests in the list of national intangible cultural heritage.
The traditional craft of exploiting and processing bird’s nests in Khanh Hoa Province has a history of development spanning 700 years. The recognition has asserted the historical, cultural and economic value of the bird’s nests exploitation and processing craft of the province in particular, and of the country in general. This is also a premise for Khanh Hoa to map out documents asking for its Salangane Nest Festival to be recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage in the near future.
According to nld.com.vn, Khanh Hoa Salanganes Nest Co. is the organizer of the annual Salangane Nest Festival. The company currently manages 33 salangane islands with 133 salangane caves off Khanh Hoa sea. The number of salangane islands and the harvest of bird’s nests in the province are the highest in Asia.
At present, the quality of bird’s nests exported from Khanh Hoa is favored around the world, and such products are one of the specialty of the coastal province.
Model motorcycles made by a disabled man
Le Tan Phat, 20, was born in Thoai Giang Commune, Thoai Son District, An Giang Province. The hearing-impaired man has had to live with his grandmother since he was young after the divorce of his parents.
In 2020, Nguyen Thi Le Hoa, 67, Phat’s grandmom, happened to find out that he loved to make model motorbikes. Learning from the Internet without any teacher, from used, discarded objects, Phat managed to make model motorcycles of various models with every single detail exactly like the real one. Seeing the great effort of the young man, many local residents have presented tools and materials to enable him to make model motorbikes.
According to thanhnien.vn, it took Phat four days to one week to make a model motorbike with all details. So far, he has made quite a few products such as Honda 67, Honda Super Cub 50cc and 70cc, Honda Dream, and even high-performance motorcycles. He also makes model motorcycles for guests upon request. These model motorbikes are sold at VND300,000-500,000 apiece, which helps Phat and his grandmom earn their living. He has also learned to repair bicycles for guests to earn more income.
