shelter deck (plural shelter decks)

  1. (nautical) A lightly-constructed deck over the main deck of a ship covering a space open to the weather; offering some protection from the weather but not completely enclosed.

      Her saloons are luxurious, and there are a number of cosy alcoves, as well as a spacious shelter deck surrounded with large plate glass windows, enabling passengers to sit in arm chairs and at the same time enjoy an unobstructed view.
