[edit]From horno + -illo (diminutive suffix); possibly corresponds to a Vulgar Latin *furnellus, from Latin furnus.[1] Compare French fourneau, Italian fornello, Catalan fornell, Galician Fornelos (toponym), Occitan fornèl, Sicilian furneddu.
