Inherited from Old Swedish hakka, likely borrowed from Middle Low German hacken. Cognate with Dutch hakken, German hacken. Senses "amount of money" and "low-rank cards" influenced by Middle Low German hacke (mincemeat), with the implication that minced meat is of low value.
