    From Proto-Indo-European *ǵl̥h₂-í-s (husband's sister). Cognate with Armenian տալ (tal), Ancient Greek γάλως (gálōs), Latin glōs, Proto-Slavic *zъly.
    However, the attestation of this meaning (instead of "mountain") is contested by Griffiths & Lubotsky (2009).
