    Inherited from Middle Persian 𐭣𐭠𐭭𐭪 (dʾnk' /⁠dānag⁠/), from Proto-Iranian *daHnáH, from Proto-Indo-Iranian *dʰaHnáH, from Proto-Indo-European *dʰoHnéh₂. Cognate with Baluchi دانگ (dànag, pimple). Doublet of دانگ.
