- (historical) Used as an honorific adjective for monarchs.
- 1611, ʿAbd al-Sattār ibn Qāsim Lāhōrī, مجالس جهانگیری [Majālis-i Jahāngīrī]:
- نقیب خان و سادات خان برادر خان مذكور بعضی ناخوشیهای تعصب یـهودان و فرنگیان كه [به] همدیگر دارند, به عرضِ اقدس میرسانیدند. الحق تعصب این دو گروه از حدّ بیرون است.
- naqīb xān u sādāt xān barādar-i xān-i mazkūr ba'zē nāxwašī-hā-yi ta'assub-i yahūdān u farangīyān ki [ba] hamdīgar dārand, ba arz-i aqdas mē-rasānidand. alhaq ta'assob-i īn du gurōh az hadd bērōn ast.
- Naqīb Khān and Sādāt Khān (the brother of the former) made a humble speech to the emperor concerning some of the fanatical hatreds that the Jews and the Europeans had towards each other. In truth, the fanaticism of these two groups is beyond limits.
