Vandalism part 34

[edit]

Serge's 34th iteration of his own personal WP:AIV and WP:RFPP. Feel free to report anything you feel may need admin intervention. Sergecross73 msg me 00:34, 11 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Here is one citation for the change I made: https://www.reddit.com/r/Starset/comments/1cixg4m/metalcore_starset_album/. There are multiple more citations. It is not vandalism. Do you have expertise in this band or music or why was this reversed? There was no justification. 173.59.8.222 (talk) 02:50, 28 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Reddit posts are not usable sources on Wikipedia per WP:USERG. Sergecross73 msg me 02:52, 28 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, based on the editing patterns, I'm wondering if @125.160.112.170 might actually be blocked editor @JustYourImaginaryGuy. Not sure how to report this; I noticed you dealt with the latter editor before. RegalZ8790 (talk) 05:12, 1 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. I've blocked. Feel free to report incidents like this to me, and if I agree, I'll issue blocks or page protection as needed. Thank you! Sergecross73 msg me 13:44, 1 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I figured this was okay, just wanted confirmation. Anyway, he's at it again, now with @125.160.115.29... RegalZ8790 (talk) 01:19, 3 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Blocked. Sergecross73 msg me 16:40, 4 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Sergecross73 Back for another round as @125.160.113.185. What can be done with an individual who has no intentions of respecting Wikipedia and its community? RegalZ8790 (talk) 06:10, 7 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Looks like someone else hit him with a WP:RANGEBLOCK. Hopefully that helps. Sergecross73 msg me 17:54, 10 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, This user keeps reverting my changes saying they are vandalism. This IP traces back to the subject of the edits who has been using wikipedia to promote his own name, articles, and videos. He doesn't cite his work, he simply pastes it into other articles.

He has done this on the USNVGT page, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Man_vs_Snakeand several others. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/35.135.179.48

Surely this is against the terms. Thank you for looking into this. datagod (talk) 🍁 22:21, 7 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Adding/restoring info without a source is definitely against policy. I don't know enough about these subjects to know who is correct in some of the disputes, nor am I following the accusations of self-promotion, but I'll warn them about the sourcing issues. Sergecross73 msg me 23:51, 7 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
These editors are definitely related, sharing similar usernames and making next to exactly the same changes. What do you recommend be done with the group of users? Should the article be protected based on this string of non-constructive edits? Panini! 🥪 15:57, 23 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Serge, I'm not sure if this merits a warning, but User:Iacowriter has been making edits without edit summaries, and his talk page is filled with warnings from other users as well. Timur9008 (talk) 19:00, 27 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I actually wanted to talk to my mentor about that. I’m getting tired of it because I’m trying to be accurate. I didn’t know edit summaries were mandatory. I apologize for that. Iacowriter (talk) 17:07, 27 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Sergecross73 Serge this keeps repeating (the incorect figures) [9]. I don't want to keep reverting. Timur9008 (talk) 12:32, 28 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The IP user changing leads is back. And just the other day, I thought it might've been over. soetermans. ↑↑↓↓←→←→ B A TALK 21:09, 10 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That's fine, I can do this forever. Blocked again. Sergecross73 msg me 23:06, 10 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

DUCK / block evasion

[edit]

Hi Sergecross73,

I'm convinced this IP address is a block evasion by FarhanNaufal19 (talk · contribs). Same topics (films, Lego, Warner Bros., Hasbro, and more) and either not using an edit summary or leaving a nonsensical one. IP: BTTF, FarhanNaufal BTTF. soetermans. ↑↑↓↓←→←→ B A TALK 19:23, 14 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Oh and ConsolePlanes (talk · contribs) is them absolutely as well. soetermans. ↑↑↓↓←→←→ B A TALK 03:07, 15 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Please (re)open an investigation at WP:SPI. Peaceray (talk) 06:40, 15 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Is this not a WP:DUCK situation? soetermans. ↑↑↓↓←→←→ B A TALK 08:53, 15 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Coming from WP:AIV, blocked as a duck. Isabelle Belato 🏳‍🌈 21:33, 15 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sorry for not taking care of this. I was busy when it was first requested, and then forgot about it when I finally did have time. Thanks all for helping with it. Sergecross73 msg me 13:05, 16 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Isabelle Belato and Sergecross73, I believe this IP address to be the same person. Focused on popular media franchises (Transformers, a focus on Hasbro) unnecessary fixing piped links, especially concerning Disney, and leaving nonsensical edit summaries like just the word 'LEGO'. soetermans. ↑↑↓↓←→←→ B A TALK 19:46, 19 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The similar edits and weird summaries are enough of a pattern for me. Blocked. Sergecross73 msg me 15:02, 20 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! Here is another one, same patterns, also from Albuquerque, New Mexico. soetermans. ↑↑↓↓←→←→ B A TALK 19:44, 20 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Blocked, protecting some common targets. Sergecross73 msg me 19:51, 20 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Cancelled game finds

[edit]

Hello and i hope you're doing well! I don't know if you heard the most recent news but two Sega Channel exclusives have been unearthed: The Chessmaster and Klondike. I put a source in the talk page of canned Genesis titles. Have a good day :) Roberth Martinez (talk) 19:58, 16 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I did see that! It brought a smile to my face, as I had the Sega Channel for a few years back in the day, and a family member always played Klondike. I had no idea it was as a "lost game". I played a few of their lost exclusives back in the day. Wish I had known when I was a little kid how rare some of that stuff was haha. Sergecross73 msg me 20:17, 16 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Sergecross73:Oh wow, that is freaking awesome! So, you did managed to play Alien Soldier, Mega Man: The Wily Wars, Pulseman and some of the others that were exclusive to SC? There are quite a few more that were also SC exclusives and i do know that we might see Garfield: The Lost Levels out there soon since the VGHF has it under their possesion. Roberth Martinez (talk) 20:35, 16 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I played Megaman The Wily Wars, Pulseman, Garfield: The Lost Levels, Maui Mallard, Battle Frenzy and the Genesis build of Breakthru! on it. I guess i must have gravitated towards their "exclusives" section for some reason. Sergecross73 msg me 21:01, 16 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Sergecross73:If i had to guess, it must have tripped you the first time you played Pulseman on the SC and all of the sudden the story text was in Japanese. So you did managed to play Garfield Lost Levels? I do know that from the footage out there right now shows Bonehead the Barbarian, Alien Landscape from the PC version and the train segment in Catsablanca but did you managed to see if there was a Robin Hood-theme stage on the Lost Levels, since i do know that level is in the Game Gear version albeit different. Speaking of SC exclusives since you had the very fortunate chance of having Sega Channel, did you managed to play a game called Ozone Kid, which was the very first SC exclusive on the service? Roberth Martinez (talk) 21:30, 16 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I definitely remember the Alien level - I thought it was pretty cool, and I remember there being the train segment, but I remember it being confusing/not fun. (I read somewhere that's why they cut it, so that makes sense.) I don't recall the Barbarian or Robinhood levels though. I'll probably set up an emulator just to play it again though if it does release. I'm so glad Time Extension is covering stuff like this. It pains me when I have this knowledge but can't add it when there's no sourcing for it. Sergecross73 msg me 23:06, 16 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Sergecross73:You might be interested in checking out this thread at Sonic Retro, starting at page 21 through 25. There are some truly enlightening discoveries, including a legit Sega VR game that was a SC exclusive. Roberth Martinez (talk) 16:33, 18 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That was a good read, it really took me back. I hope Time Extension keeps covering that sort of stuff. (Or anyone, but they seem most likely.) Sergecross73 msg me 23:02, 21 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

User:Erobran

[edit]

Can you please take a look at this user? He continues to add new flight service at Jorge Chavez International Airport without providing an exact date as per WP:AIRPORT-CONTENT. left several messages at talk page regarding this and left a link to the discussion but continues to argue. Already reported this user to AIV, Thanks! 2600:1700:8544:D000:58A7:9DD1:E885:7BD4 (talk) 16:29, 18 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Warned. That's probably sufficient for now. Sergecross73 msg me 19:52, 20 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Problematic article creations

[edit]

So there has been a spate of non-notable articles created by User:BOZ, a veteran editor who should really know better by now. Looking at the recent creations list for him, just in a matter of days there has been Mission to Lianna (one source), The Abduction of Crying Dawn Singer (one source), NightLife Reference Screen and City Planner Accessories (one source), Interstellar Elite Arctic Combat (one source), Troubled Waters (Harpoon) (one source) and so on. Some other articles only cite 1-2 sources and then a print mention that exists but isn't actually used in the article, kicking the can down the road to other editors to prove whether it is actually WP:SIGCOV or just a trivial mention.

I figured giving a warning to him wouldn't make a difference since he knows full well what the notability criteria are and has continued with the creation of tabletop stubs. However, getting full coverage of tabletop gaming on Wikipedia shouldn't come at the expense of wasting perhaps years of other editors' time figuring out whether these articles are really deserving of pages. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ () 14:32, 20 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

My apologies. I will redirect these at this time, and if more sources are found in the future they can be restored. BOZ (talk) 14:42, 20 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Come on, how many times do we have to have these conversations? I can't believe we're still doing this after how many ties the community has told you these sorts of articles aren't appropriate. Every time, you apologize, and then you get caught doing it again in 6 months when you think no one's paying attention anymore. What's it going to take to get you to actually change? Sergecross73 msg me 14:52, 20 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'll just have to make sure that I've got the sources to sustain an article before creating it, rather than leaving it up until later to find it. BOZ (talk) 15:38, 20 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'd heavily recommend going back and either fleshing out with multiple sources, moving to draft, or self-deleting any articles that are non-notable if you want to show you are serious about this. I wouldn't create any new pages until this is dealt with somehow. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ () 19:51, 20 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I will go back over them and follow up as requested. BOZ (talk) 20:56, 20 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
