Global Core Biodata Resource (GCBR) Forum
The GCBR Forum brings together representatives of the 52 Global Core Biodata Resources (GCBRs) to share experience and good practice, and work with GBC and its member funders to enhance the sustainability of the global biodata infrastructure.
The Forum meets virtually every 2-3 months and is co-chaired by GBC Executive Director Guy Cochrane and Teri Klein, PI of ClinGen and PharmGKB. Summaries of previous Forum meetings can be found below.
GCBR Forum Objectives
- Provide an interface with GBC member funders to identify, discuss and develop approaches to enhance sustainability of global biodata resources worldwide
- Share experience and good practice around sustainability and other issues of key concern to global biodata resources across their life cycles.
- Develop common positions and good practice principles, and explore other opportunities for biodata resources to work together to address shared challenges
- Explore the development of common metrics and approaches through which biodata resources can collectively demonstrate their reach, value and impact
- Serve as a source of strategic and operation information and experience to support GBC member funders in their sustainability mission
- Contribute to the wider activities of GBC – ensuring that the perspectives of resource leaders are reflected in its priorities and ongoing work
Priority Activities
- Exploring sustainability mechanisms – the Forum is providing key input into ongoing GBC work to identify principles and mechanisms for enhanced cross-funder cooperation to enhance sustainability of the global biodata infrastructure.
- Developing sustainability indicators – the Forum has formed a working group to articulate key aspects of sustainability and develop an associated approach to allow biodata resources and funders to assess where needs lie.
- Building case studies – GBC is working with Forum members to identify and develop case studies to examine approaches to fund, develop and sustain their resources to meet the evolving user needs.
- Sharing good practice – at each Forum meeting, GCBRs have the opportunity to lead discussions on key issues of common concern.
