[edit]Okay, my opinion:
- Main: That particular picture of Doofenshmirtz actually doesn't look very good, I think I'd go for his "official" file photo instead.
- HQ: I think a picture of his building could be good too, maybe captioned "Dr. Doofenshmirtz resides within his corporate headquarters in downtown Danville, a building he purchased at a low price, the result of the sounds of passing ships at the nearby lighthouse"
Everything else is just fine so far. ViperSnake151 Talk 22:53, 30 November 2009 (UTC)
- The main picture is in the same style as the other article's images. What do you mean his "official file photo"? Blake (Talk·Edits) 01:47, 1 December 2009 (UTC)
- That "photo" from his O.W.C.A. file, that one with him on a beach. ViperSnake151 Talk 03:26, 1 December 2009 (UTC)
- That wont be used because like I said, its nothing like the other article's pictures. You have to have some consistency. Also it isn't a full-body image. The current one is fine. Blake (Talk·Edits) 03:53, 1 December 2009 (UTC)
- Agreed, this is also the far superior image design used all throughout WP:TV. Just look at Homer Simpson, Sideshow Bob, or Peter Griffin. It looks much better than a screencap. The Flash {talk} 19:39, 1 December 2009 (UTC)

Well would you look here, maybe the name on Shelbys phone and then this all finding here is a coincidence but I don't think so THE1uNOuWISHuDIDNT (talk) 22:06, 19 November 2019 (UTC)

Section: "Personality"
[edit]Doofenshmirtz treats his nemesis Perry the Platypus as his best friend,[epnote 1] and is often concerned for Perry when he does not arrive at the scene of his next scheme, hesitating to execute his plans and fearing for where Perry has gone - though he notes that he "hopes something terrible has happened to him."[epnote 2] It was also shown in one episode that all his traps were platypus-sized indicating that they have always been arch rivals. Doofenshmirtz's relationship with Perry has also been used to his advantage, as he once replaced Perry as his nemesis with a secret agent panda bear (Peter the Panda) to cause depression in Perry, causing a distraction from his actual plot to freeze agents to use as a giant chess set.[epnote 3] When Perry is re-assigned by O.W.C.A. (Organization Without a Cool Acronym) to a higher-leveled threat, The Regurgitator, leaving Doofenshmirtz classified as a low-level threat who would be dealt with by a secret agent snail, Doofenshmirtz himself took up an internship with the new villain to assist him in ultimately defeating the new threat and keeping Perry as his nemesis.[epnote 4] It is shown that either he is better than all other evil scientists or Perry goes easy on him, as in the episode Oh There You Are Perry, Perry imprisoned an evil scientist in less than a day's time. He is shown to be devoted to his daughter, Vanessa, trying to impress her every time they meet but always ending up failing. There are times, though, that she shows she likes her father although she is not aware that whatever it is that makes her like him is due to the help of Perry the Platypus. In the episode "Hail, Doofania!" Vanessa acted like Candace trying to bust her father to her mom that he is really pure evil. But this was later altered, and she has now accepted his unusual ways. He also has a robot named Norm whose appearance is based on that of his brother Roger, showing that he may have some love for his brother.
See if there is any information here that can fit into the article. Thanks, Bananasoldier (talk) 07:25, 11 January 2014 (UTC)
More information
[edit]He was disowned by his parents and forced to live with ocelots, smelling so horrible due to the raw meat they ate, he had no friends and was forced to work in a carnival as the ball thrown at a dunking booth.[epnote 1] In an episode called "Split Personality" Doofenshmirtz reveals to Perry that in Drusselstein the initiation to being welcomed and respected by your relatives was to prove your manhood by jumping from a swimming pool high dive over 155 feet high and anybody too scared to do it would be deemed as a "schnitzel" (wimp) and be held distant from their parents or relatives.
When he was finally taken back by his parents, they were stricken with poverty and had their lawn gnomes, used to ward off black magic in his village, repossessed. His father, in desperation, forced him to become the new lawn gnome 24 hours all day and night without being allowed to move in the slightest for any reason even to eat, study, leave or sleep and he was just like a standing security, statue of a person or a military guard but he was forced to suffer heat stroke, fever and malnutrition.[epnote 5]
"Got Game?" shows that even when his father won a pure breed "spitzen hound" that he named "Only Son" as a displacement of his apparent hatred towards him, a pet that became an award-winning show dog, he still forced Doofenshmirtz to dress as a lawn gnome.[epnote 6] One of his only real friends was a balloon he had drawn a vaguely Peter Lorre-like face on, and named "Balloony."[epnote 1] A few episodes display his issues with his mother and younger brother, Roger. Thinking that her newborn son was to be a girl, Doofenshmirtz's mom knitted several dresses, though when he turned out a boy she forced Doofenshmirtz to wear them instead for lack of material for a year, effectively emasculating him.[epnote 7] His brother was, as Doofenshmirtz describes him, a "goody-two shoes" whom his mother favored.[epnote 8] In "Thaddeus and Thor," Doofenshmirtz explains that this was due as well to Roger's skill in kickball, a sport Doofenshmirtz was terrible at.[epnote 9]
Throughout his school career, he tried different hobbies, including trying to be a magician,[epnote 10] making science fair inventions such as "The Inator" and "The Even-Bigger-Inator" (both of which lost to baking soda volcanoes),[epnote 11] poetry (where he curiously also lost a competition to a baking soda volcano),[epnote 11] and shadow puppetry—a successful act which got him a girlfriend for a short period, until he was upstaged by a poor puppeteer with large hands.[epnote 12] He also tried being a bratwurst vender until the hot dog industry put him out of business.[epnote 13] On a date with Linda Flynn before she became famous, a feat Doofenshmirtz sarcastically suggested was not going to work out by saying he was going to rule the world, she suggested that he start small with the Tri-State Area.[epnote 14]
As a result of this and his misfortunes as a child, Doofenshmirtz turned to evil and used his skills at inventing to do so. His daughter, Vanessa, notes that he is not actually a doctor and simply purchased a $15 doctorate with his ex-wife's money.[epnote 11] He went to "Evil 101" where his teacher, Dr. Gevaarlijk (which means "dangerous", in Dutch), openly displayed her hatred of him and failed him.[epnote 15]
I've moved this to the talk page because it seems to be mostly in-universe information and other trivial things. It's likely that there might be useful things in here that I've missed. If you would like to move anything back, please do so and/or discuss it. Bananasoldier (talk) 07:31, 11 January 2014 (UTC)

Origin - meaning of the name Heinz Doofenshmirtz?
[edit]It has been raised that in German Heinz Doofenshmirtz has a bad meaning ... Doofen means fool or idiot. Does anyone know the entomology of the name? Is this not a good fact to be mentioned Is Heinz a diminutive of Henrich (Henry) and what does shmirtz (You just made me correct this you said Shmirz") mean? Needs somebody with a tad of German local slang, maybe?
AspieNo1 (talk) 15:33, 17 July 2014 (UTC)
- I thought that was covered in the Creation and design section? If you have reliable sources where the creators elaborate further on the name, you can add it there. Speculating on the etymology otherwise would be original research. -AngusWOOF (talk) 15:53, 17 July 2014 (UTC)
- For me, as a German, the name sounds like Doofenschmertz ("sch" in German is equivantent to English "sh") which would mean "pain of a fool" of "foolspain". By the way, German short "i" and "e" are no so very different in pronunciation. 2A02:8071:BCF:3D00:D528:1452:8D1D:2CA9 (talk) 14:25, 6 May 2022 (UTC)

Origin - meaning of the name Heinz Doofenshmirtz?
[edit]So I decided to add Fictional German categories in the category section, some might argue that he's from Drusselstein though it's based on nations like Germany and Austria and could even be a possible German State in the Phineas and Ferb Universe as implied by some episodes (Though its also implied to be its own nation but the show never specifies) SuperSkaterDude45 (talk) 04:48, 20 April 2021 (UTC)
- The show heavily implies that Drusselstein is its own country. I'm almost positive that they even refer to it as such. Regardless, Doof is never referred to being German on the show, so adding him to German categories is original research. Now, it can be added to the article how the country seems to be loosely based on Germany and mention things like his father speaking in German. But it does not belong in the categories. JDDJS (talk to me • see what I've done) 14:05, 20 April 2021 (UTC)
- nevertheless, "Drusselstein" is a well formed German place name (although invented for this show). Heinz is a typical German given name. "Doof" is a German word for stupid or so. The whole show (which I have never seen or heard about befor reading this article) plays with references pointing to Germany. So let us indicate the english translation of those German words, beginning with "doof" which means "stupid" and similar meanings. Cheers, ---- L.Willms (talk) 17:38, 24 July 2024 (UTC)
That's actually agreeable, I might add it in when I have time to SuperSkaterDude45 (talk) 18:01, 20 April 2021 (UTC)
