The demonym of Stockport is Stopfordian, however, this list may include people from Bredbury, Cheadle, Cheadle Hulme, Marple, Reddish and Romiley, all from the wider Metropolitan Borough of Stockport.   • Pablo Fanque, equestrian and popular Victorian circus proprietor, was living with his family at Britannia Inn, 22 Churchgate, in Stockport when he died in 1871.
