Ogbomosho North is a Local Government Area in Oyo State, Nigeria. Its headquarter is at Kinnira currently headed by the chairman, Kabir Akanji.

The local government serves as a home to one of Nigeria institution of learning, Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) and it's teaching hospital.

Also, the Nigerian Baptist Medical Center and Bowen University Teaching hospital are situated there.[1] Yoruba language is widely used in the Local Government Area, and Christianity and Islam are prevalent religions in the region. Prominent landmarks in Ogbomoso North Local Government Area encompass the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology and the Bowen University Teaching Hospital.[2]

History

Ogbomoso North Local Government Area was established on the 27th of September 1991, derived from the former Ogbomoso Local Government Area which was however established on 1 April 1973.[2]

Ogbomoso North Local Government Area spans approximately 207 square kilometres with an average temperature of 28 degrees Celsius. The annual precipitation in the area is around 1830 mm, and the average wind speed is recorded at 9 km/h.[2]

Ogbomoso North Local Government Area accommodates numerous banks, hotels, restaurants, industries, schools, both privately and government-owned institutions. The Local Government Area boasts a thriving trade sector and features several markets, including Wazo and Ojajagun markets, where a diverse range of commodities is traded.[2]

The SOUN Palace is the major traditional home of the city. Ogbomoso North is the most populated local government in the city, being the city's major economic nerve and has a land mass of 235 km2.[3] It is the most populous local government in the city as at the 2006 census.[4]
