Summary

Description
English: Oil-on-canvas painting by Antonio Jacobsen of the clipper ship Flying Cloud, derived from an 1851 lithograph published by Currier & Ives. Flying Cloud was built in Boston in 1851 by Donald McKay. In 1854, the ship made the fastest-ever passage from New York to San Francisco by a merchant sailing ship. She ran aground and was abandoned by her crew in 1874.
