Descripción
El Gobernador Amat, le había dado en 1760 un escudo de armas «que su fondo se denote en todo su campo verde con el río Maule descendiendo del ángulo izquierdo al derecho, de su color azul y sus saetas; en su centro, en forma de pasar el riente sus olas, desde la parte inferior izquierda a la derecha superior un león coronado, color amarillo con un estandarte en la garra, saliente de él una bandera blanca y en medio de ella una Cruz de Borgoña con su inscripción latina en la parte superior, que diga: «Provehit soli leo», y en la cúspide de la orla, un óvalo con un rayo candente y por colaterales las expresiones Talca-Trueno.
