Financial support

The College of Education offers nearly $3 million in fellowships, assistantships, scholarships, and other awards to its students.

These awards celebrate outstanding student achievement in areas such as academic performance, research, student leadership, community service and citizenship, and contributions to all areas of education.

 

FAFSA

Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

The 2025–26 FAFSA will be available from December 1, 2024, to June 30, 2026. Use your 2023 income tax return.

It is in your best interest to file the FAFSA as soon as possible after it opens each year. Some financial aid programs have limited funding and deadline requirements. For maximum financial aid consideration submit your application before February 1, 2025.

Thank you to alumni, donors,  and friends of the College of Education for their generosity in providing more than $400,000 annually in scholarship funding for students.  

The application for most of the scholarships opens October 1.

Student Employment

Students who wish to work while attending the University of Iowa will find job opportunities on the University campus and in the local Iowa City/Coralville community. 

Office of Student Financial Aid

The Office of Student Financial Aid provides information, financial literacy resources, and counseling for students and families at Iowa.

Additional Graduate Student Resources

A variety of assistantships and grants are awarded in the College of Education each year. Applicants should check directly with individual programs or departments for positions.

Graduate Financing

The UI Graduate College, your academic program, and the UI Office of Student Financial Aid can be great resources for financial aid to pay for graduate study.
