Earth Bound (spelled as EARTH BOUND in the title screen; not to be confused with EarthBound) is the first official unreleased English translation of Mother 1 led by Phil Sandhop. The entire game of the original Mother was changed, censoring many aspects, changing many maps, and making the sprint button, which had been a debug option, a gameplay feature. Nintendo had originally intended to sell the product to overseas markets, primarily in America, but doubts on the profitability of the marketing led to an abandonment of the release in favor of allocating their time and resources with the creation of the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. The scrapped version was eventually found by fans and reformed into EarthBound Zero, where the only change will be in the title screen. EarthBound Beginnings would later take its place as the complete and official English release by Nintendo on the Wii U Virtual Console in 2015.
