Yesterday, the world ended, but Luke somehow finds himself the only one alive on a train heading who knows where. At least, he believes he's the only one alive still.

Built in Ren'Py, this is a short linear kinetic novel developed in one week for Only One of Any Asset (Again!) Jam of 2021. There is only one ending and no choices. Think of it like a short story!

This was an interesting perspective that shows that loneliness is better then being in an abusive relationship. Even when you're the two people left on Earth it is empowering to see a character choose themselves over being stuck in something they don't like. I like the scenery in the background and the character design as well. Great job! ^^

It takes a certain amount of courage to stick by your boundaries even in the face of loneliness and uncertainty.  I have to respect Luke a lot here.

nice

This hit me like a TRUCK emotionally. I don't cry easily, but this had me sniffling and wiping my eyes. Beautiful, bleak but not hopeless, and exactly the right length for what it's doing.

I'm glad you enjoyed it!! Thank you for playing!

Very much a case of "less is more" - very short and simple, but I really enjoyed it! For all the limitations of the Jam, this packs a solid punch, and the emotional beats in particular really hit home.  Well written and well structured, giving us just enough of an insight to be invested in Luke's story, and the open end and the question of where Luke goes now is honestly really intriguing - if there were any plans to extend this in future, I'd be all over it.

Really well done!

Thank you very much!! I'm glad you enjoyed it!

This was sad yet beautiful. The main conflict was handled very well, I'd say. My reaction to the ending was saying "GOOD" out loud LOL

This worked really well with the limitations of the jam, well done :)

I'm glad that was your reaction! Thank you so much for the play and I am glad you enjoyed it!!

I have read quite some novels that are hundreds of pages long  but this five minute novel is better than all of them. Maybe that is because of the music and visuals. Beautiful writing. The train set was a smart choice.

Damn buddy, that's rough.

Loved your writing in this, the art is fantastic and loved the train set. Amazing, thank you so much for making this!

"Damn buddy, that's rough" the visual novel! Haha. I'm glad you liked it! Thank you so much for playing!

Truly beautiful, pensive piece that handles difficult subject matter in a tasteful way. Luke feels very real, and I appreciate that he upholds his boundaries in the face of everything that happened. As always, spectacular work!

You're always so kind! Thank you!

This game shook me up (but in a good way)! I really love the literal take on the phrase "not even if we were the last people on Earth". The subtle expressions and the understated tone were perfect for the story. Excellent work!

I enjoyed this! Loved the art and the animations. I feel the story had a good message to it too. Very well done with the limitations in place. :)

Thank you! :D

It's fine, I didn't need my heart anyway.

Despite being so short, I'll be thinking about this for a few days. It has this vibe that I feel only comes with thinking you should have died but yet here you are; like you don't know if you should be relieved or disappointed. Plus this vague, dreadful feeling of being out-of-place, when you're in a space that only a little while ago was full of people, and now they're gone (kinda like a school at night except no one is coming back in the morning).

Also, and this maybe just me reading into it but, I really appreciate the ace representation in Lukas. :D

It's not you just reading into it! That was the intent! Thank you for playing and I'm glad you enjoyed!!

Also rip, I had his name as Lukas all over this page but it's actually just Luke. I'm good at writing, I swear.

This was excellent, honestly made me tear up a little... The story is incredibly impactful and engaging despite being so short. The looping train background is a really nice touch.
