20th Century Studios (2020)

20th Century Studios (formerly 20th Century Fox) is a American film studio founded in 1935 that has been a subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company since 2019.

The Croods was the first DreamWorks Animation film to be distributed by 20th Century Fox after the departure of Paramount Pictures and 20th Century Fox subsidiary of News Corporation with the founder Rupert Murdoch. A total of ten DreamWorks Animation films were distributed by this company from 2013 to 2017 beginning with The Croods and ending with Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie.

On December 14, 2017, The Walt Disney Company announced plan to buy 21st Century Fox assets for $52.4 billion. The deal was completed on March 20, 2019. The deal did not include the DreamWorks films distributed by the company (DreamWorks Animation was brought by Universal in 2016) which the deal ends afterwards, nor does it include Fox Broadcasting Company. On January 17, 2020, the studio was renamed to "20th Century Studios".

Outside of Dreamworks, the company's most notable films and franchises include Ice Age (2002-present), The Simpsons (1989-present), Home Alone (1990-present), The Sandlot (1993), Planet of the Apes (1968-present), Alien (1979-present), Die Hard (1988-present), Predator (1987-present), Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1992-present), The X-Files (1993-present), Night at the Museum (2006-present), Diary of a Wimpy Kid (2010-present), Rio (2011-present), X-Men (2000-2020; the rights were transferred to Marvel Studios after 20th Century Fox was acquired by Disney in 2019), Daredevil (2003), Deadpool (2016-2018; the rights were transferred to Marvel Studios after 20th Century Fox was acquired by Disney in 2019), Star Wars (1977-2005; the first six films before Disney acquired Lucasfilm in 2012), Mrs. Doubtfire (1993), Titanic (1997; Fox handled the films distribution outside North America while the North American distribution was handled by Paramount Pictures), Free Guy (2021), Avatar (2009-present), Patton (1970), Jennifer's Body (2009), Anastasia (1997-present), The Book of Life (2014), Robots (2005), Dr. Suess' Horton Hears a Who!
