PBS Wisconsin Education creates and curates classroom-ready, free-to-use media and resources for Wisconsin educators. Check out the latest content from two of its history collections, Wisconsin Biographies and The Look Back.

Wisconsin Biographies
The Wisconsin Biographies collection features animated videos, historical image galleries, digital books, and educator guides designed to introduce students in grades 3-6 to historical figures and make connections to our lives today.

Roberto Hernández: Working for La Comunidad is the latest story in the collection. It shares the life and legacy of Roberto Hernández, who became an advocate for better educational opportunities for his fellow Latino students at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee. His story also provides context around other civil rights and labor movements organized by Latino communities throughout the 1960s and 70s.

The Look Back
Designed for students in grades 4-6, The Look Back features real historians who model historical inquiry as they explore Wisconsin historical eras through artifacts.

Season two of The Look Back launched in August, with new episodes premiering throughout the school year. The episode How Fake Photos Convinced People to Move to the Midwest explores the story behind tall-tale postcards that depict larger-than-life agriculture. In Did Kids Really Run Away to Join the Circus?, the crew heads to Circus World Museum to learn about life under the big top.
